As part of our ongoing international partnership, K9 Metropolitan Specialists UK have successfully completed their annual project with the Malaysia Army, preparing a new group of elite working dogs for service in Malaysia.
This long-standing collaboration represents years of mutual trust, professionalism, and shared commitment to the highest standards in K9 training, health, and welfare.
A Trusted Annual Partnership
Earlier this year, the Malaysia Army delegation as well as accompanied by their official army veterinarian and new appointed procurement boss-lady, travelled to the UK to select from a group of 26 partly trained working dogs. Each candidate was evaluated through detailed demonstrations showcasing control, confidence, drive, and environmental stability, all vital qualities for operational success.
Following the selection, the army veterinarian conducted full health assessments, working closely with the UK’s veterinary team to review medical histories and export documentation. This transparent, joint process ensures the welfare and readiness of every dog throughout the journey.
Preparing for Deployment
With selections now finalized, the K9 Metropolitan Specialists UK team have entered the final phase of export preparation. Over the coming weeks, the dogs will undergo:
Final veterinary certification under DEFRA and Malaysian import regulations.
Training refreshers and conditioning to maintain readiness before travel.
Crate familiarisation and acclimatisation for a calm and confident journey.
Full logistics coordination for a seamless and welfare-focused export process.
These dogs are scheduled to arrive in Malaysia by the end of November, where they will join the Malaysia Army’s expanding K9 division. Upon arrival, they will continue their advanced training in detection, search and rescue, and patrol work – roles that are essential to strengthening operational response and national safety.
