K9 Metropolitan Specialists UK Sends Andy Lightfoot to Support Malaysia Team

We’re excited to announce that K9 Metropolitan Specialists UK will be sending one of our most experienced team members, Andy Lightfoot, to support our sister branch, K9 Metropolitan Specialists Malaysia, later this year.

Andy brings with him over 35 years of experience in canine training and operations. His impressive background includes 22 years of service in the Royal Air Force as a Police Dog Handler, Trainer, Instructor, and Kennel Manager. During that time, he specialised in AES (Armed Explosive Search), Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD), and Narcotics detection – gaining invaluable experience in both operational deployment and instructional leadership.

Since leaving the RAF, Andy has played a key role in the private security sector, working on major assignments such as the London 2012 Olympics, projects with the U.S. Department of State, the United Nations in Afghanistan, and numerous high-profile clients across the UK. He was also one of the first instructors involved in the UK’s FREDDS aviation EDD programme – a cutting-edge initiative in aviation security.

A highly respected NASDU instructor, Andy has spent many years mentoring new generations of handlers and continues to raise standards in the industry through his deep knowledge and practical expertise.

His deployment to Malaysia represents an exciting opportunity to strengthen our international presence and share specialist skills with the growing team at K9 Metropolitan Specialists Malaysia. Andy’s experience and leadership will be instrumental in supporting operations, training, and continued development across Southeast Asia.

We’re proud to have Andy representing the UK team overseas and confident that his presence will be a tremendous asset to our Malaysian colleagues and clients alike.

Stay tuned for updates as we begin this next exciting chapter of collaboration between K9 Metropolitan Specialists UK and Malaysia.
